I’ve been attempting to develop a working outline for our curriculum while Yego & Mario have been at the studio working feverishly on the new studio portfolio. We’re all planning a limited release of hand screened tees for 7/3, so mark your calendars!!
Coke Zero, sold successfully elsewhere in the world since its launch in 2005, has been banned by Venezuelan Minister of Health- Jesus Mantilla, citing unspecified “danger to health”. The decision follows a wave of nationalizations and increased scrutiny of businesses in South America’s top oil exporter.
Coke Zero was launched in Venezuela in April and Coca-Cola Femsa, the Mexico-based company that bottles Coke products locally, said at the time it aimed to increase its market share for low calorie drinks by 200%. The bottler was plagued with labor problems last year in Venezuela when former workers repeatedly blocked its plants, demanding back-pay.
The government has now ordered Coca-Cola Co to withdraw its Coke Zero beverage from the South American nation and earlier this year seized a rice mill and pasta factory belonging to US food giant Cargill and has also threatened action against US drug company Pfizer. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has even nationalized a group of oil service companies, including projects belonging to Williams Companies and Exterran.
Not sure what’s going to happen next for Venezuela, but kudos to telling bastards to fuck off. : )
Greeting Maroons,
Had a bit of a reality check today as I sat typing away, as usual. I was updating muhsinah.com with some new video and ran across one by a kid named YoggyOne, from Besançon, France as he performed a live remix of some Nhmiah Su vocals. An odd find for sure, but what struck me more than him being inspired by one of my artists was the “Weeping Willows” Pharaoh Poncho he was wearing while doing it all.
Granted, I am not one to take my influence lightly. I simply wanted to take this moment to acknowledge this publicly. I am aware that the work I do, with the people I choose to work with, becomes a part of someone elses life at a point. The things is, although I have accepted that fact, it still does strike me as quite bewildering when I see such clear evidence of it. So yeah… back to work with me. I’ve got lives to influence. Lol.
Mr. Rogers neighborhood teaches Gladwell’s Outliers theory that 10,000 hours of practice makes a genius. Starting at age 7, Jermaine Vaughn Practiced every day for 5 Years and was clearly on his way to mastery. A testament to the power of Public Television.
